Company presentation
Ionect is an engineering company dedicated to integrating electrochemical technologies into energy‑intensive industries. We help clients decarbonize with practical solutions around green hydrogen, CO₂ utilization/reduction, e‑fuels, and other emerging technologies. Our work spans feasibility studies, front‑end engineering, detailed design, and many more. Ionect is diving headfirst into multiple adventures and projecting rapid development. Do you have what it takes be part of the ride?
Role description
As a junior process engineer, you will help design and integrate tomorrow’s chemical plants and industrial installations. You’ll translate client needs into robust process designs, contribute to safety and operability, and deliver high‑quality engineering documents. Expect a mix of desk work (design & analysis), stakeholder interactions, and occasional site visits.
What you will do:
• Develop and iterate process designs for industrial systems: PFDs, P&IDs, heat & material balances, process descriptions, operating philosophies, and bases of design.
• Prepare and maintain equipment lists, datasheets, and line lists, define utilities and tie‑ins, support layout constraints with other engineering teams.
• Support vendor selection: write technical requirements, review supplier proposals, and perform technical clarifications.
• Contribute to process safety: participate in HAZID/HAZOP sessions, define safeguarding and interlocks, draft cause‑and‑effect and control narratives.
• Perform techno‑economic assessments (capex/opex models, availability, energy balances) to support client decisions and options analysis.
• Communicate clearly with clients and suppliers; produce concise, professional deliverables and presentations.
Must Have
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Chemical or Process Engineering (or closely related).
- 0–2 years relevant experience (internships and thesis projects count); exposure to process design and industrial systems.
- Solid fundamentals in thermodynamics, mass & energy balances, fluid mechanics, and unit operations.
- Strong analytical skills in Excel (or Python/Matlab) for calculations.
- Professional English (written/spoken). French or Dutch is a strong plus.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of hydrogen systems (PEM/alkaline electrolyzers, compression, storage) or e‑fuels (ammonia, methanol).
- Ability to read and produce PFDs/P&IDs and author clear technical documents.
- Experience with AutoCAD (or similar).
- Familiarity with Aspen Plus / HYSYS (or equivalents).
- Exposure to process safety (HAZID/HAZOP, LOPA, SIL) and hazardous area classification.
- Prior work in industrial environments.
Your vision?
- You want to make impact and contribute to energy transition projects.
- You’re a leader. You lead by listening and by example.
- You like people. You’re a good communicator, comfortable with client and supplier interactions.
- You don’t know everything, and you don’t think you know everything. But you’re curious. You want to know more.
- You don’t believe in “that’s not my job.” You roll up your sleeves. You help where it’s needed. You own your corner and care about the whole.
Our vision
We're building a team for the long term. That means hiring people who want to grow with the company, not just work for it.
